San Andrés Gears Up for FILSAI 2024: The Book Fair Connecting the International Caribbean

From September 18 to 22, San Andrés Island will host FILSAI 2024, featuring over 50 writers and 100 musicians and artists from across the Caribbean. This vibrant Colombian island will use the power of words to break down borders.

Mamaroja Company has organized 60+ cultural events at key venues like La Loma, San Luis, and Centro, including the Literary Tent at Cañón de Morgan Plaza, the Banco de la República Library, San Luis beaches, and island schools.

This year’s highlight is the Night Sessions by Yehman Fest, with local acts such as Celis Sisters and Joe Taylor and the Fire Band.

The FILSAI poster, designed by Karen Bendek, reflects the theme «Bitout Baada | Without Borders,» showcasing a borderless Caribbean through minimalist art featuring mangrove leaves.

Confirmed international writers include Nicholas Laughlin (Trinidad and Tobago), Mariana Slangy (Curaçao), Carlos Villabolobos (Costa Rica), Lauristely Peña and Michelle Ricardo (Dominican Republic), and Mateo García Elizondo (Mexico). National writers include Fadir Delgado, John William Archbold, Mariamatilde Rodríguez, Luz Karime Santodomingo, Fabián Buelvas, and Nora Carbonell, among others. Local creators such as Hazel Robinson, Martín Pomare, Cristina Bendek, and Edna Rueda Abrahams will also be featured.

FILSAI 2024 is a major cultural event in the Colombian Caribbean, supported by various public and private organizations, including the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Knowledge, the National Library, the National Book Fair Network, and the San Andrés Chamber of Commerce.
